Introduction

Coffee has been an integral part of our life. We need coffee for several purposes like to keep us awake whenever we want, to make us feel refresh, and such. Not only has this but people preferred to perform their official business meetings over a cup of coffee. Coffee has been a lifesaver in many boring meetings. Many people have met their life partners over a cup of coffee and the company that serves such best coffee is Starbucks. 


History

Starbucks was founded on 31st March 1971 by three partners Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker. Although they started Starbucks at 2000 Western Avenue, Seatle it was later shifted to the Pike Place Market, Elliott Bay, and Seattle, Washington, U.S. There was a period when they only sold roasted whole coffee beans but after some years they started with their brew coffee. Firstly, they were unsuccessful in gathering a big crowd of the customer but as it is said as '999 days of the business and 1000th day is yours' so they tried hard and today this has resulted in making it the best Coffee houses. Many people would not know that the original Starbucks was sold to Howard Schultz in 1987 and was rebranded his II Giornale Coffee to Starbucks Coffee. During the year 1992, Starbucks owned over 140 outlets with total revenue of US$73.5 million which came up in just 5 years as in 1987, the revenue was calculated to be US$1.3 million and so they started with their Initial Public Offering (IPO) in June 1992. In 1996, Tokyo in Japan was the first city located outside the origin country of Starbucks which is North America. Looking at the profitable enhancement of Starbucks Philippines was the next market to welcome Starbucks Coffee. 


Present

Starbucks has become a successful Coffee franchise. Today Starbucks has reached the top in the list of best Coffee houses. Not even this But Starbucks is also one of the Fortune 500 Companies and is ranked 121st company in the Fortune 500 Companies. Starbucks serves in 4 categories which are Espresso, Frappuccino, Smoothies, and Food in every country but the products they sell may differ from country to country based on various factors such as demand, local food and many more. In 2018, the total revenue of Starbucks was US$ 24.71 billion and the Net Income of Starbucks in 2018 was US$ 4.51 billion. Today, Starbucks has employed over 300,000 employers present in over 27,000 Starbucks Coffee chain. Tokyo in Japan was the first city located outside the origin country of Starbucks which is North America. Various local companies of countries have approached Starbucks in their country like in India, Starbucks is owned by the famous entrepreneur Ratan Tata's company TATA Foods.


Conclusion

Starbucks has earned a lot of customers since the decade of 1990. Today it has sold over 1,000,000,000 coffees around the globe. It is present in over 78 countries and territories on 6 continents. It has proved its worth by becoming one of the largest food selling franchise in the world.
