Introduction
COVID-19 is increasing in India with tremendous speed as over 9,500 cases have been confirmed out of which over 300 have deceased. It has affected over 1.8 million people worldwide out of which maximum are affected in the USA, which is strange as they have only 20% population of the total population of India. So Indian authorities are very much concerned about this that is it increases, over 30% of the Indian population will be infected with this virus in just two months. So to restrict it, the Indian Government announced a lockdown of 21 days which is going to end on 14th April. To understand everything about this virus and its effects, below are few articles for reference.
Although after announcing a lockdown, there is no stoppage of COVID-19 cases in many cities, so the state governments have planned an extension of lockdown in their states. This has led to many changes in Maharashtra in many sectors, most prominently in the educational area.
Suspension of Examination
Social distancing is the only way for abolishing this virus, but with all the education institutes remaining unrestricted, it will increase instead of decreasing. So almost all the state Government had ordered the government-aided schools to stay shutdown. This created a problem in conducting examinations. So the government decided to waive off the tests. Here is the standard wise status of examination in Maharashtra.
The Government had also announced that if the condition gets even worse, then there can be a delay of results for both 10th and 12th standards.
Conclusion
COVID-19 is dangerous but not lethal unless we follow all the guidelines and maintain social distancing. People in India are not taking this pandemic seriously and are not following the instructions. Taking the step of omitting such examinations is a very vigilant and excellent step. Students have already started studying for the next standard with the help of online conferencing applications. Technology has helped us in such a bad situation.
