Reason for Taking such Measures

Mumbai Airport is the second busiest airport in India as thousands of travellers visit Mumbai. It is one of the biggest hubs of business and so hundreds of flights take off and land at this airport every day with parcels and such business-related stuff. It is an important source for various aspects such as economic and social wellness, fulfilling necessities and so on. Closure of such a place for a long period would be a great loss for the country, so Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) took the necessary measures which would help curb this virus from spreading at the airport. 


Measures Taken by MIAL

MIAL had announced the measures they have taken for curbing this virus to spread at the airport and they further added that they are ready to open their operations. Depending upon government guidelines they will be resuming their operations. The measures taken MIAL are as follows.

  • Peculiar indication for maintaining social distancing at both the terminals. 
  • Areas including entry gate, check-in counter, self-check-in booths, security checkpoints, lounge areas, food courts, and the boarding areas and gates.
  • Passengers have to maintain a distance of 1.5 meters for maintaining the protocol of social distancing. 
  • Sitting arrangements at the food courts, boarding areas and lounges will be rearranged to maintain social distancing. 
  • Screening of temperatures will be conducted at the entrance of the boarding terminal. 
  • Depending upon the screening results the passengers will be allowed entry in the boarding terminal. In case if they have even a few symptoms of this virus are seen in a passenger then he/she shall be immediately taken to the quarantine facilities with utmost care. 
  • At every touchpoint, hand sanitising will be performed. 
  • The entire airport will be sanitised frequently with appropriate sanitisation measures.
