Cruelty over Animals

Introduction

Humans have been on this planet for over thousands of year evolving from one generation to another. Meanwhile, we have been broadening our power on land and other living beings like birds, animals, etc. This has led to the feeling of supremacy on all the things. We are behaving like we own every object on Earth which means we can operate it as our wish which is wrong thinking. You might have heard some events where animals are brutally tortured and then killed either for their purpose or just for enjoyment. Yes, Enjoyment! You might be aware of areas where they are used and might be tortured. If not, then here are some.

Forms

Animal cruelty can be classified into two major categories which are active and passive. Various forms of practising such cruelty are mentioned below.

  1. Industrial Animal Farming - Industrial animal farming generally produced a significant amount of farm animals used for various purposes. They store thousands of farm animals at a time and so they are also known as factory farms. Their situations in such factory farms are pathetic as they are not provided with sufficient food, ventilation, area for themselves and such essential things. They are beaten up frequently by the farm owners either because they are old or because they refuse the orders of their owner and gain rebellious behaviour. Their quarters are kept unclean and lousy which is not suitable for their health. Cows, chickens, hens, pigs are some of the animals who face various harmful encounters by humans. Most encountered incidents happen with hens as they cannot lay eggs, after the birth they are culled brutally.
  2. Cultural Rituals - In the olden ages, killing an animal before fighting a war was considered as auspicious. Such kind of rituals is still honoured in few parts of the world along with some modifications to it. Buffaloes, goats, etc. are some of the prominent animals for this purpose. However, today's rituals have changed. For example in Thailand, when a handler of a group captures Asiatic elephants he uses the training crush technique for making it obedient to his owner. They break their spirit by depriving them of sleep, hunger, thirst and pound nails into their feet and ears.
  3. TV and Film Making - Enjoyment is essential for humans to relieve the stress they gain every day. TV serials and film making fulfil this task. As most people adore animals and so the directors started broadcasting animals on their movies and serials. However, for obtaining expected performance, they perform cruel activities on such animals. They may drug them, beat them, play with their psychological behaviour by not providing food and water, keeping them in a cage for days and such activities. Dogs, cats, monkeys, horses, etc. are some of the most used animals in TV and film making process.
  4. Circuses - Most of you might have been to circuses or have watched it. They display stunts with various domestic and wild animals like dogs, elephants, snakes, tigers and lions. We enjoy watching them doing stunt but have you ever wondered that king of the forest will stay calm ahead of you and perform stunt as his master tells him to? Practically, without any supplements or external force, this is not possible. So they use various processes to trap them in their control. They keep them starving for days for breaking their spirit and sometimes hypnotise them. They drug them for making them obey their masters' orders and to make them strong.

Recent Events

You might have heard two incidents that occurred in Kerala and Himachal Pradesh with an elephant and a cow who were pregnant. That was so humiliating for us because we have one duty towards them which is to keep them safe but still, we are unsuccessful in performing one task. This act left me thinking if still, we have humanity left in us. Check the below articles for understanding those events.

Conclusion

Humans have been blessed with the most essential things of all which is the brain. We should you this in good use and not in imaging and conducting harmful pranks on speechless animals. They serve us till their death and in return just expects or love and compassion towards them. However, many times we fail to complete such an easy task also. This is our single responsibility towards animals still we show no efforts to fulfil it then we don't deserve to live in freedom.

Yes, I also strictly oppose the cruel treatment of animals. I tell you that we should treat them kindly in all aspects, in jungles, circuses, farming , etc. We should not bear them uselessly.
