Indian Olympics Contingent to be guests at the Independence day

India sent a huge contingent for last three editions of Summer Olympics. Tokyo Olympics 2021 is sending a 228-member strong contingent from India who are participating in 18 sporting events. India’s Olympic contingent for Tokyo 2020 comprises of 127 participants from 18 sports. Two alternate players including one reserve goalie in men’s and women’s hockey squads have also been sent.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be inviting the entire Indian Olympics contingent to the Red Fort as special guests for the upcoming Independence Day event on August 15 He also will personally meet with the athletes and interact with all of them around that time .Modi will be inviting all the athletes who are a part of the contingent over to his residence and will  have an interaction with them, Wishing them luck good luck, Modi had held a virtual interactive session with iconic boxer MC Mary Kom, badminton ace PV Sindhu, talented shooters Saurabh Chaudhary, Elavenil Valarivan and veteran table tennis player A Sharath Kamal before they left for Tokyo. He had called the athletes a reflection of latest India said they look bold and assured before the Games. He also said all possible help has been extended to them through the government’s target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).“Don’t be caught up by expectations, just give your best. “I might have been happier to meet you face to face , I always anticipate to it. But I promise to spend time with you after you come back . I’m happy that country is cheering for you. I wish all the luck to you. the whole country’s emotions are attached to you,” the PM had said thereon occasion.
