The NADS comprises of both ‘hard kill’ and ‘soft kill’ capabilities.
Contract was signed within the presence of representatives from Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and senior Naval officers in New Delhi on August 31, 2021.
Indian Navy has also provided consistent support and led within the joint development of anti-drone system with DRDO and BEL.
About Naval Anti Drone System (NADS)
The NADS has been developed by DRDO and made by BEL. it's the primary indigenously developed anti-drone system which will be inducted into the Indian soldiers .

Who has Manufactured the system?
This completely indigenous system was made by multiple units of BEL in Bangaluru, Hyderabad, Pune and Machilipatanam together.
BEL units worked together with DRDO Labs and therefore the Indian.
Labs like Electronics & Radar Development Establishment, Defence Electronics lab , Centre for top Energy Systems and Sciences and Instruments Research & Development Establishment were a part of the making of NADS.

Features of NADS
NADS has the potential to detect and jam micro drones. It uses a laser-based kill mechanism so as to terminate targets. it'll act as an efficient all-encompassing counter the increased drone threat to strategic naval installations. It uses help of radar, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensors and frequency (RF) detectors so as to detect and jam micro drones.

Use of the NADS
This anti-drone system was first used to supply security protect Republic Day Parade in 2021 also as during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address from Red Fort. it had been also deployed in Ahmedabad for the Modi-Trump roadshow.
