Joe Biden emerged victorious in the race of the 46th Presidential elections of the US. He was the former Vice President of the United States. Born in Pennsylvania in 1942, the 77-year-old got elected to the Senate for the first time in 1972. He was also re-elected for six times more, thus spending 36 years in the US Senate.

Biden has run twice for the presidency, in 1988 and again in 2008. At 77, Biden would be the oldest first-term president in history. He has spent five decades in Washington and served two terms in the White House as former president Barack Obama's vice president.

Democrat Joe Biden who will take the charge as the 46th President took to his Instagram last week to share a post saying, "I know sometimes it can feel like you watch me on TV or you see my social media posts, but you've never gotten a chance to meet me in real life. That's why I wanted to share 11 facts about me you might not know!"

 

HERE ARE 11 UNUSUAL FACTS  ABOUT JOE BIDEN:

1. Joe Biden played on his high school football team both wide receiver and halfback positions. In 1960 they went undefeated.

2. He has two German shepherds, named Champ and Major.

3. A huge car enthusiast and gearhead and still has the '67 Corvette Stingray he got from his father.

4. Joe Biden wrote and championed the Violence Against Women Act. The landmark legislation helped change the culture around sexual assault and domestic violence.

5. In December 1972, Joe Biden's wife Neilia and their one-year-old daughter Amy got killed in a road accident. Biden’s sons-Beau and Hunter also suffered injuries in the crash. Hence, Biden took the train from Wilmington to Washington, DC so he could be at home with his two kids everyday.

6. After losing his wife and daughter in the road accident, Joe Biden was sworn into the Senate at his sons' hospital bedsides.

7. Biden grew up with a stutter and would recite Yeats and Emerson to work on his public speaking.

8. At 29, he became one of the youngest people ever to get elected to the United States Senate. He met the constitutional age requirement of 30 by the time he was sworn in.

9. Joe Biden is the second Catholic president in US history. John F Kennedy was the first.

10. During their eight years in the White House, Joe Biden and Barack Obama stayed busy but made sure to spend quality time together at their weekly lunches.
