On the Occasion of the World Teachers’ Day (5th October), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) launched its 2021 State of the Education Report (SOER) for India “ No Teacher, No Class”. This publication is the yearly flagship report of UNESCO New Delhi and it's grounded on broad investigation.
This third edition of the State of Education Report centered on the theme of teachers, tutoring and teacher education. Access to the internet in schools is 19 per cent all over India
Key Points of the reports
The advanced proportion of women teachers Chandigarh, Delhi, Kerala, Punjab, Tamil Nadu
The lower proportion of women teachers Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Bihar.
Increase the number of teachers and enhance working conditions in North-Eastern lands, pastoral areas and‘aspirational quarters.
Increase the number of physical education, music, art, vocational education, early childhood and special education teachers.
supply educationists with meaningful Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training.
Develop Tuition governance through consulting processes, based on collaborative answerability
Findings of the report
As per report, there are around1.2 lakh single- teacher seminaries in India. It accounts for7.15 percent of11.51 lakh schools. Out of this, 89 per cent are in pastoral areas.
51 percent of total schools are employing 95 lakh preceptors.
Report notes that, India requires11.16 lakh another teachers to meet the current deficiency.
States with high chance of single- teacher academies are-Arunachal Pradesh (18.22), Goa (16.08), Telangana (15.71), Andhra Pradesh (14.4), Jharkhand (13.81), Uttarakhand (13.64), Madhya Pradesh (13.08) and Rajasthan (10.08).
